My Note: Marie Lavender is a phenomenal writer of romance fiction. She is the consummate professional, and I am quite fortunate to have made her acquaintance. I find romance and horror to be strangely similar actually, first by way of structure. The hiding of things, whether for the purpose of seduction or suspense, plays similarly. Also, the biggest motivation for both genres is love, as romance stories tease with what you can’t have and horror tales toy with what you are terrified to lose.

So Marie, I am proud to have you visit The Author’s Graveyard, and I would ask that you pick a plot. Put up a marker. Etch something into the stone!

Synopsis

Fara Bellamont has been back in society for a year after leaving Cluny Abbey, where her uncle sent her long ago. When he chooses a suitor for her for marriage, she fears that she will be forced to marry a stranger and live a miserable life.

But, Fara finds herself thrust into an adventure of a lifetime when unforeseen circumstances cause her to place her trust in a strange man for protection. His intervention not only saves her, but puts her in an even more compromising position.

Grant Hill, a trading captain, is enchanted by the young heiress not only because of her beauty, but because she is hardly conventional. Underneath her ladylike exterior lies a tigress. Grant cannot help but offer his protection as she is in need and he is far from immune from her charms.

Fara just never bargained on the passion that she feels for Grant Hill. As events unfold, she must decide whether her desires and the dictates of her heart should trump the rules of society in this exciting tale.

***Amanda #NerdGirlWitch Review***
This was a amazing read! Marie is a brilliant author and I enjoyed reading this immensely. The twists and turns flowed beautifully and the romance was epic and heart pounding. The Characters were sexy, compelling and stubborn, and the story was beautiful, romantic and at times even a little dangerous. I loved that the characters were kind of stuck with each other and at times had a kind of love/hate relationship as it added fire to the scenes, you could tell however that they didn’t ever hate each other and you could see their relationship continued to grow.I loved all the history that comes with reading a period story like this. Historical romance is chock full of history and intrigue, and that is one of the things I love about them. Marie did a fantastic JOB on this one and I loved all of the historical stuff that she added to the story to make it seem as if you had really been taken back.
Don’t miss out on your chance to read this piece of history!

The Next Best Thing Blog Tour – My WIP

the-next-best1

I want to thank Lois W. Stern for this neat marketing idea and to pass it along to all of you. Here is a way to help market yourself while helping your fellow authors.

http://tales2inspire.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/T2I-Poster_new-300x200.jpg

The basic idea is to respond to ten questions  about something you’re currently writing or a book or story just published or to be published soon. Here are the rules:

1. Post your responses to the interview questions below on your own blog page.

2. Add my name and my book cover montage (image) to your blog page and link them both back to this page.

3. Send this blog to five or more other writers.

4. Each time you forward this message to someone, start with the “I want to thank  . . .” sentence as seen above, substituting her name, Lois W. Stern, for the one currently appearing in that first sentence.

5. Ask them to substitute your name…

Teaser from UPON YOUR LOVE

Check out a teaser from UPON YOUR LOVE, a historical romance work in progress!

Marie Lavender's avatarI Love Romance Blog

I’ve been steadily at work finishing up the final book of the Heiresses in Love Series, Upon Your Love. Current word count? 112,816 words. Lots more writing to do before I even think of edits. So, I thought I’d drop by today and offer a teaser. For those familiar with the series, you may have wondered if I was ever going to pair Eric, Grant’s valet and family friend to the Hill’s, with someone. Well, here’s the answer and a sexy teaser:

“You don’t approve of women who give their favors easily,” she said at last, her eyes fastened on him once more.

“That’s right. It’s not snobbery in any fashion. I believe that some women are placed in that position because of circumstances I can’t even imagine. I do see why it occurs, but it’s not my preference at all.”

“In what context is it all right then?”

Pattimari‘s review

Upon Your Honor is a book I bought, read, and think is an outstanding story with a great author. I was impressed and happy to know that this author had more books to buy and read. Marie keeps her reader entertained and feeling all the characters actions. She has a way with allowing the reader to visualize exactly what the character looks like and feels.
Great job Marie.

AUTHOR INTERVIEW: Marie Lavender

TBM: How do you imagine the ideal reader of your book?

ML: I imagine the ideal reader of my book to be a romantic who doesn’t mind bit of history and suspense thrown into a love story. Anyone who loves a good story and enjoys a thrill while learning about new places would be a potential reader.

TBM: How was the writer inside of you born?

ML: When I was young, I absolutely loved the written word!  I would pour over books, eating up the narratives within.  My imagination was huge and my family would often find me acting out my own stories with dolls and such.  This eventually translated into writing stories, and I’ve been writing them ever since.

Upon Your Honor
TBM: What genres do you work with and why are you attracted to these forms of writing?

ML: I write romance because I love showing how…

Author Marie Lavender creates an epic novel, as her characters travel from the docks of New York City, in 1881, to New Orleans. Via carriage, ship, or horse, Chloe Waverly attempts to escape the clutches of her unwanted fiancé, Lamonte Beckett, with the help of Gabriel Hill.

Having already suffered the loss of her mother, the death of her father leaves Chloe at the mercy of society and the whim of a man who claims her father intended they marry.
