“The Other Side of Our Dreams” – a poem
Posted by Marie Lavender
A new romantic poem on the I Love Romance Blog!
The Other Side of Our Dreams
Do you sleep?
Do you dream?
At night, do you sleep in hopes of meeting me when you wake?
Do you dream, dream of me the way I dream of you?
Do you pray?
Do you pray you’ll see my face? To hold me tight?
Because I think of you every night…
Every day, of course, but each night many times before I sleep.
It’s not because I’m lonely.
When the day’s demands are winding down, the night gets so quiet you can only hear your heartbeat, the soft thump aligned with crickets humming in the darkness.
I think of you, imagine your face, your voice blessing me, your arms surrounding me.
I don’t think of you because I’m lonely and I need someone, just anyone.
You’re in my thoughts, always.
You’re the missing part of me I didn’t know about until I…

I won the 2015 PnPAuthors Contest for poetry! My winning poem, “Lovers Like Us”, ended up in an anthology with the other participants, but I got the first page. How awesome is that? 😉
Poets & Writers in Action is comprised of both poetry and short stories. A few other writers that made it into the anthology were Deepak Menon, Robin White, Terry Gilbert, Raven Wilkie, Vinita Singh, and several more.
Here is the book, released just yesterday, with my poem! If you check out the ‘preview’ option on the site, you can read the poem if you scroll through the first few pages! 🙂
*updated 6/19/15 – Here is the Amazon link and the new cover!

Guest Post: Author Marie Lavender

Find out about my journey and writing process here on Michael Aronovitz’ blog!
My Note: Marie Lavender is a phenomenal writer of romance fiction. She is the consummate professional, and I am quite fortunate to have made her acquaintance. I find romance and horror to be strangely similar actually, first by way of structure. The hiding of things, whether for the purpose of seduction or suspense, plays similarly. Also, the biggest motivation for both genres is love, as romance stories tease with what you can’t have and horror tales toy with what you are terrified to lose.
So Marie, I am proud to have you visit The Author’s Graveyard, and I would ask that you pick a plot. Put up a marker. Etch something into the stone!
A Writer’s Journey and Process by Marie Lavender

“Blessed” – a poem
Posted by Marie Lavender
A new love poem!
Blessed
It’s beyond words what I feel for you,
but I always try to capture it.
I can only say I feel…
blessed.
The way you draw me close,
holding me tight,
I’ve never felt so safe with anyone else.
I can only feel…
blessed.
The way you speak those words,
professing your love,
saying you’ll always take care of me,
I can only feel…
blessed to have you.
Looking into your eyes,
a fascinating mix of brown and green,
the way you kiss me and my eyes drift closed,
I can only feel…
blessed.
When you smile at me or give me that gaze full of affection,
the way we work so well together,
even when we link hands and they fit so perfectly,
I can only feel…
blessed beyond measure.
Our hearts,
our souls connect,
our bodies were made for each other.
I can only feel…

“Everything to Me” – a poem
Posted by Marie Lavender
Everything to Me
Every time you leave, I yearn more for you.
When we’re apart, nothing feels right until we’re reunited.
I could spend a lifetime learning the many facets of you and I’d never get tired.
I can see the love in your eyes and I reciprocate it.
You show your feelings in so many ways…
You take care of me,
you listen,
you worship my body completely.
I could never ask for a more perfect love.
It means everything to me…
Real love isn’t perfect…
It has its occasional hiccups,
a mild argument or difference of opinion,
the wait to be together,
to become one in a perfect union,
our minds,
our souls,
our hearts together.
But, that’s what makes life interesting.
We are similar in many ways,
connecting beyond the visible,
even speaking in unison now and then followed by a laugh,
finishing each other’s…
