Writing in the Modern Age 2019 Year in Review:
Big Reflections – Past and Present
Hi, everyone! A year I imagined would crawl right by, in fact, did
not. Instead it flew so fast, I suffered vertigo several times. đ
Â
Tomorrow weâll adjust our calendars to reflect that life has
changed in a blink, welcoming 2020. For this yearâs annual review
post, Iâd like to commemorate the evolution of Writing in the
Modern Age. Six years ago, I opened the blog to guest authors and
itâs been a wild ride ever since. WritModAge grew from the initial
seed of a place to help other writers at any stage of their careers, all
the way to not just that, but also a site where readers can
comfortably discover their new, favorite authors! Through author and
character interviews, book and writing service interviews, guest
articles, book spotlights and mega giveaways, it has become a unique
resource for writers and readers alike.
Â
SoâŠgive a warm round of applause to all 350 content writers and
authors who visited us via various events from 2013 to 2019.
However, there were 104 guest writers this year alone. Thatâs
awesome! đ

How Shopping Correlates with Dating and Relationships: a romance blogger post by multi-genre author Marie Lavender

Not about books, but you can see how I funnel romance into my writing…
How Shopping Correlates with Dating and Relationships
I love, love, love shoppingâŠwell, for almost anything! I can never be trusted with a credit card. đ Most of the time I resist temptation, but now and then, especially if I have some extra money on my hands, I indulge in one of my hobbies â shopping for clothes, or even books.

But whether youâre browsing online or in the store, shopping for clothing items is a whole other animal. At least with a book, you can be sure you will usually end up a satisfied reader. The only issue, for me at least, might be a bunch of glaring grammatical errors, or so much head-hopping that I get fictional whiplash.

Shopping for clothes, however, is a different story.

Book Lovers Tag
Posted by Marie Lavender
I talk about my reading preferences on the I Love Romance Blog…
Hereâs a fun post for all. This is a Book Lovers Tag challenge. I came across this great tag over at D.G. Kaye Writerâs blog, where she invited anyone to join in. I thought it would be exciting to jump into the challenge, as besides being an author, I love reading romance novels (hence the blogâs namesake)! So, why not?
Do you have a specific place for reading?
Mostly, I read in bed, but now and then I cart one of my books to the living room or dining room and set up shop. And if Iâm feeling really adventurous (this helps if we have pleasant weather, which is never a guarantee in Indiana), then Iâll sit outside on the patio and read to my heartâs content. đ Now and then, I actually read on the Kindle app on my tablet, but Iâm more of a paperback/hardback kind of girl. Benefits of Being a Bibliophile
Posted by Marie Lavender
To my fellow book lovers…
There are many benefits to being a book lover. Maybe we have an unhealthy compulsion to buy books. Maybe we have no surface space not claimed by random literary treasures. We may regularly suffer from book hangovers, but by gollie we:
Prefer simple pleasures                Never go to bed lonely

Get excited easily                      Have better vocabulary đ

Never get bored                        Travel to distant lands

Never stop learning                     Have less stress

Improve memory         âŠ

“The Cat Came Back”
Posted by Marie Lavender
I had to share this incredibly inspiring story! And I love kitties so…
Greetings and meows, dear peeps and pets!
Maisie here, guest hosting on Jenniferâs blog today.
Townie Cats
I thought it was high time I shared a little âcat taleâ with you from five years back.
It was the Fall of 2010 and my sister Vivian and I, both three years old, had recently moved around the bay to Newtown with Jennifer and Paul. Up until then, weâd been raised as indoor city cats who rarely went outside unless it was in the backyard under vigilant watch by our owners.

While our soon-to-be permanent home on Perryâs Point was undergoing restoration and renovations, our little family had to bide our time in Mike Perryâs summer-house over near Barbour Tickle. As the weeks passed and our owners grew eager and impatient to move to the Point, they told us that once we got there, we would have the freedom toâŠ

“Blessed” – a poem
Posted by Marie Lavender
A new love poem!
Blessed
Â
Itâs beyond words what I feel for you,
but I always try to capture it.
I can only say I feelâŠ
blessed.
The way you draw me close,
holding me tight,
Iâve never felt so safe with anyone else.
I can only feelâŠ
blessed.
The way you speak those words,
professing your love,
saying youâll always take care of me,
I can only feelâŠ
blessed to have you.
Looking into your eyes,
a fascinating mix of brown and green,
the way you kiss me and my eyes drift closed,
I can only feelâŠ
blessed.
When you smile at me or give me that gaze full of affection,
the way we work so well together,
even when we link hands and they fit so perfectly,
I can only feelâŠ
blessed beyond measure.
Our hearts,
our souls connect,
our bodies were made for each other.
I can only feelâŠ
