Hello! My name is Marie Lavender, a.k.a the Mystic Mindbender, and I live in a small town in Indiana. I love writing about aliens, vampires, witches, ghosts, other beings and humans with super psychic powers. I believe that there’s a little “superhero” in all of us. I am also a book nerd and a total shopping freak.

People tend to ask writers where they get their ideas. I often have no clue how to answer that question. Perhaps it was the well-turned phrase of a dinner companion, an article I read, or even a film I watched. Maybe it didn’t come from any of those sources. It’s possible that I wanted to write about a specific topic, but I was waiting for the right opportunity to present itself. What inspired you to write your book?

My current release, Second Nature, was a long time coming. I worked on it off and on for years before I realized it would be a vampire story. I wrote Desiree’s character first and the rest sort of came out of that.

Do you have a specific writing style?

I believe I do. I have a certain way that I write; I am character-focused first and then I add in the other details. I am comfortable with that approach, and my fans appear to like it.
