Meet Author Marie Lavender
Posted by Marie Lavender
My interview on Margaret Egrot’s blog! š
Today, the best-selling American author, Marie Lavender, features on my blog.
Ā
What is the title of your latest book?Ā Ā
My book which is closest to release is called Blue Vision. It is a sci-fi romance about a young woman who goes on vacation in Montana, and begins to experience some strange phenomena. She also meets a stranger in the forest, only the man isnāt who she believes he is. Blue Vision is due for release on November 15th
Ā What are the most challenging aspects of being a writer? And the most rewarding?
I think itās challenging that we take on so many roles during our journeys. It can be hard to juggle everything. The most rewarding aspect is not only being in the midst of a scene and feeling that freedom while writing, but also when a fan tells you how much they loved the bookā¦

My interview on A.B. Funkhauser’s site! š
Sheās a multi-published award winning author with a new book, BLUE VISION, out November 15th. Add on to these accomplishments the hugely successful blogĀ WRITING IN THE MODERN AGE, and her newly launched graphic design companyĀ AMBROSIA INNOVATIONS, and you have Marie Lavender.

Welcome back to the blog, Marie. Youāve won some awards since we last met. Tell us about the āBroken Heartā and the āI Love You.ā
Those were two poetry awards, from contests which were in poetry groups on Facebook. I often peruse the awesome poetry in those discussion groups and when I saw the two contests, I thought, āHell, why not enter my own?ā This is the poem I entered for the āBroken Heartā contest. And here is the one for the āI Love Youā contest. Believe it or not, the recognition I got from both was āEmpress of the Universeā, quite apropos for my science fiction romanceā¦

An old article of mine, but still some good tips! š
Are Your Characters Fleshy?
This may come as a shocker, but a lot of beginning writers donāt know how to make good characters. And Iām sure some tenured authors make the same mistake occasionally. Itās not enough to say, āHey, Mr. Character, you have dark hair and blue eyes. Now start talking.ā Dialogue is one aspect of a character. So is appearance. But, what is inside is what counts. What is inside of a character is what makes us keep reading.
Take the time to fill out the finer details of a character. For example, what do they like to eat for breakfast? Maybe they donāt eat breakfast. Some people donāt. What is their religious affiliation? Where did they go to school? What kind of home life did that person have? Notice I said āpersonā.
People are complicated. We are complicated. If we were all pretty typical, would life beā¦

“The Other Side of Our Dreams” – a poem
Posted by Marie Lavender
A new āŖromantic⬠āŖpoem⬠on the āŖI Love Romance Blog!
The Other Side of Our Dreams
Ā
Do you sleep?
Do you dream?
At night, do you sleep in hopes of meeting me when you wake?
Do you dream, dream of me the way I dream of you?

Do you pray?
Do you pray youāll see my face? To hold me tight?
Because I think of you every nightā¦
Every day, of course, but each night many times before I sleep.

Itās not because Iām lonely.
When the dayās demands are winding down, the night gets so quiet you can only hear your heartbeat, the soft thump aligned with crickets humming in the darkness.
I think of you, imagine your face, your voice blessing me, your arms surrounding me.
I donāt think of you because Iām lonely and I need someone, just anyone.
Youāre in my thoughts, always.
Youāre the missing part of me I didnāt know about until Iā¦

My Author Journey by Marie Lavender
When Jill Marie asked me to talk about my author journey, I wanted to approach it a bit differently than I had in the past. So, letās really get into the mindset, the life of an author, shall we?
Being an author isnāt about making the bestsellers list or tons of royalties or winning awards, though any of those are great. Itās not even about meeting your publisherās deadlines. The defining moment for an author is different for everyone. And we constantly evolve.
My first defining moment was when I received my first book contract in 2012. And when that historical romance novel, Upon Your Return, came out six months later, when I first held the paperback in myā¦

Interview: Marie Lavender!
Posted by Marie Lavender
A unique approach to an author interview, when Gloria Weber interviews me about superheroes! š
Welcome to my first ever evilĀ experimentĀ author interview! Ā This is something Iām hoping to do more often around here. Ā In the secret liar today we have superhero author Marie Lavender. Ā Marie, please introduce yourself!
Hello! My name is Marie Lavender, a.k.a the Mystic Mindbender, and I live in a small town in Indiana. I love writing about aliens, vampires, witches, ghosts, other beings and humans with super psychic powers. I believe that thereās a little āsuperheroā in all of us. I am also a book nerd and a total shopping freak.
Oh, I like that bit, āthereās a little āsuperheroā in all of us.ā Ā Might have to steal borrow it. Ā But, on the superhero note, who is your favorite hero?
One of my favorite superheroes from a book is Merit from Chloe Neillās Chicagoland Vampires Series. I can totally identify with her quirky, kick-ass approach to things. And a formerā¦

THE OWL LADY PRESENTS GUEST AUTHOR: Bestselling multi-genre author Marie Lavendar, Part 2
Posted by Marie Lavender
A guest article on Viv Drewa’s blog!
People tend to ask writers where they get their ideas. I often have no clue how to answer that question. Perhaps it was the well-turned phrase of a dinner companion, an article I read, or even a film I watched. Maybe it didnāt come from any of those sources. Itās possible that I wanted to write about a specific topic, but I was waiting for the right opportunity to present itself. The dancing muse upon my shoulder whispered something in my ear, and then I had the audacity to shout, āEureka! Thatās perfect!ā
Iām not the only writer who often sits back in awe of that miraculous crumb of a story. Where did it come from? It just appeared out of the ether. Maybe it crawled out of the corner of the wall there, from another dimension. Before I start to scare you, let me explain how the creative processā¦

Marie Lavender – Insights from Experience.
Posted by Marie Lavender
Welcome Marie and thanks very much for joining us on atime2write.
Q. You have over 19 books to your name, which is fantastic. When did you first publish your work? Was it self or traditionally published?
It was actually self-published at first. I published my first book in 2010. It was a literary fiction/poetry anthology titled Express CafĆ© and Other Ramblings. I went on to publish two subsequent literary fiction/poetry anthologies, all of which will be revised and re-released as Miss Lavenderās Anthology of Ramblings. So, look for that as a future release.
Q. So some of your work is traditionally published ā how did you manage to get picked up by a publisher or agent?
Though I tried self-publishing, I held onto one manuscript for dear life, reserving it for traditional publishing. In 2011, I began submitting the manuscript to literary agents and publishers. In August ofā¦
