Ā What are the most challenging aspects of being a writer? And the most rewarding?
I think itās challenging that we take on so many roles during our journeys. It can be hard to juggle everything. The most rewarding aspect is not only being in the midst of a scene and feeling that freedom while writing, but also when a fan tells you how much they loved the bookā¦

Those were two poetry awards, from contests which were in poetry groups on Facebook. And here is the one for the āI Love Youā contest. Believe it or not, the recognition I got from both was āEmpress of the Universeā, quite apropos for my science fiction romanceā¦

Solstice Rocks!
Posted by Marie Lavender
Just wanted to pop in here and tell you that my publisher rocks!
Why? Well, because they accepted two more manuscripts from yours truly.
So, that’s a historical romance/family saga, Upon Your Love, coming to booksellers soon, as well as a sci-fi romance, Blue Vision! Woo hoo! It’s all very exciting, don’t you think? š
Upon Your Love is the third and final book of the Heiresses in Love Series.

Here’s a sneak peek of the blurb:
The Hill family saga concludes as loyalties are questioned, faiths will be tested and undying love may come at a terrible costā¦
Fara Hill, mother and faithful wife, is torn between her family at home and her urge to be at sea. Soon, she learns some disturbing truths. Was the past a fairy tale instead of reality?
Chloe Hill, loving wife and young mother, questions her faith when her husband sets an ultimatum she cannot meet. Will she be able to keep her marriage from falling apart?
Adrienne Bellamont Hill, born of a valiant captain and a fiery redhead, is untamed to her core and will bow to no man. Then Christian du Plessis enters her life with an offer she canāt refuse. Discovering the man behind the polished gentleman, she is drawn to him in many ways. Holding out for love is a family tradition, but can she resist the temptation of passion?
Christian finds this young woman to be a fascinating challenge, and is torn between keeping his distance from her and succumbing to her charms. A fierce battle of wills ensues as he sees she is much more than he ever imagined.
But danger lurks, threatening to destroy everythingā¦
Can these two strong-willed individuals unite in the cause before time runs out?

Blue Vision is the first book of the Code of Endhivar Series. Yeah, that’s right! A new series is just beginning…

Here’s the blurb:
Brooke Sanders just wants to get away from her life for awhile. A remote cabin in Montana fits the bill. She doesnāt expect to encounter a mysterious stranger with unusual blue eyes, or events that cannot be explainedā¦
Colin Fielding is on a mission ā scout a planet and return home to Endhivar. Simple really. What he doesnāt anticipate is that fate has a pretty twisted sense of humor. Suddenly, this human calls to him, every part of him, like the call of a true mate, and he canāt deny the connection as he gets closer to her.
Little do they know, someone is out to do them harm, as well as the world Brooke holds so dear. Can they stop whatās coming before itās too late? Or will the universe lose a perfect gem?

So, that’s what is going on these days. I just got assigned my editor for UYL. That should keep me out of trouble, right? š AND I have plans for two more books this year, fate willing. I am so excited for you to read these titles!
I’ll check back with everyone soon. Take care and have a wonderful week! ā„

Hi, readers! I am excited to announce the official launch of Second Chance Heart, a contemporary romance release! š

The last thing she expects is to run into an old flame, and even worse, the man who broke her heart twelve years ago. Sheās sure that the only thing remaining between them is a strong attraction for another.
She canāt be more wrongā¦
The more time she spends with Vince Reynolds, the more she begins to believe she can trust him again. But, can she put her faith in the one man who captivates her, body and soul, or are some wounds too deep to heal?

Great 4 Star Review for Second Nature on Readers’ Favorite!
Posted by Marie Lavender
Hi, readers! Just wanted to let you know that I stumbled across this great review for Second Nature, book one of the Blood at First Sight Series, on Readers’ Favorite! So, thank you, Michelle! š
Here is the review if you’d like to check it out…

Book Review
Reviewed by Michelle Randall for Readers’ Favorite Alec is not your ordinary drop-dead handsome man, he is a vampire, and he smells the most amazing blood he has ever met. He is looking for it when he finds it at a festival. Desiree is a young woman with a broken heart and soul. She has been unlucky in love, but she thinks she is okay. Alec has to know more about her, he wants to know her, not just have a taste of her blood, which is something he has never done. Desiree is stronger than she thinks and her mind is even stronger; she is able to resist the normal vampire mind thoughts. Alec knows there is something special about her, but it also puts her in danger. He takes a bold step and kidnaps her, taking her to his house. Second Nature follows Alec and Desiree as she begins to learn about Alec and trust him. Along the way, they find something more than they ever thought possible, but they both know in reality it can never work, right? A human and a vampire? Author Marie Lavender gives us a different look into vampire-human relationships. Second Nature: Blood At First Sight Book 1 by author Marie Lavender is not your typical vampire novel. Alec is a lone vampire, he does not live in a group, or family. Vampires do not mix with humans at all, other than to take the amounts of blood they need, but only that much. So when Alec is taken with Desiree, this is something he is completely unprepared for and he has no idea how to handle it. Desiree has no idea vampires exist, but takes the news relatively well. Given her unlucky past with her ex-husband, she has a hard time trusting Alec, but he works to win her trust. In reality this is much more than a romance novel, it is the story of Alec and Desiree, and the fact that they are human and vampire is secondary. Anyone who enjoys a good romance should read this one; it is an emotional read! |

Thoughtful, 5 Star Review for Second Nature!
Posted by Marie Lavender
A new review for Second Nature!
As the author notes about the protagonist ā a vampire, āAll heād ever hoped for, when you looked past the bitterness of fate, was acceptance. He had foolishly wanted to be accepted despite his supernatural flaws. And that just wasnāt possible.ā That ironically is true for the very genre of romance in the sense that window of acceptance of deviations is rather slimā¦

A Short and Sweet Review for UYR!
Posted by Marie Lavender
Hi, readers! Just wanted to pop in and let you know about this cool review I discovered on Amazon for Upon Your Return, book one of the Heiresses in Love Series. Thank you, Crystal, for your kind words! š
This review is from: Upon Your Return (Kindle Edition) A fiery adventure of unmistaken love. Never have I read such poignant literature. This author is my idol. I myself write historical romance, I can never hope to be as wonderful as she. This book will hold you captive and take you on a whirlwind of romance from the very first intriguing page to the very last. Well written and well executed. I cannot brag enough about this book. |
